My time line :
1951-born in Hochaknalli village on Dashahara Mahanavami. We were potters. We were using donkeys for local transport of pots and other goods.1958-I was admitted in primary school Kheni-Ranjol. Mr. Gurubasappa was my class teacher.
1965-appeared 7th standard board examination and scored 90% marks in mathematics paper and least marks in science subject only 43%.
1965-joined TDB High school, Kheni-Ranjol. Mr.Shidramappa was office assistant and Hindi teacher. Mr.Krisnamurthy [of Turuvekere] was Head Master and English and Kannada teacher. Mallikarjun taught Science and maths. Mr.Shantveer taught Social science. Mr.Neelopanth taught Algebra.
1967-lost father, it was a suicide. then, I was 9th class boy.
1968-a marriage proposal with a girl from far-off village Srimandal, by elders and mother. I refused to it, but they did not support my idea. Shidramappa Sir, also opposed the early marriage proposal.
1969-Passed sslc exam in first class with 67% marks. Married in summer, after 10th board exam.
1970-Passed puc Sc. with second class merit [58%]. Only 90 students cleared this exam, out of 300 students. In that sense, I was second to the college in merit. I was awarded free-ship.
1970-took admission to B.Sc. Part-I and applied for National loan scholarship, it was sanctioned. Passed the part-I exam in second class.
1971-Studied for B.Sc. Part-II and got through with ordinary marks. I was living with Asif Patel and Babu, the two sons of Mali-Patel, Mr. Pashamiah of Hochaknalli. i could not concentrate on study.
1972-took admission for B.Sc. Final year. I decided to be alone, so that I could concentrate on my study. I took a rented room, in Harurageri area, Bidar. Later Mr. BakkaReddy Shahabad joined in the same room.
1973-Passed B.Sc. in higher second class with mathematics and Physics subjects.
1973-in summer vacation, I was a coach to children of Mr.Shamrao Mali-Patel of Rekulagi village for a month period. It was famine and there was food scarcity in the district, when Shanrao gave 50Kg Jawar for my work, on which we survived in the food scarcity time. I was later working in PWD division office Bidar, as Literate Mazdoor and was paid Rs 105/- per month for a couple of months. I applied for the post of Telephone operator, in response to a paper advertisement. Then,I was living in Mangalpet Bidar. My temporary work was terminated and then I was a mathematics coach, to degree students for a month period.
1974-I joined the P and T department, as Telephone Operator, was selected on merit basis only; and worked from Bhalki telephones for the first five years. I was in search of better paid job.
1979-Cleared the departmental competitive exam of karnataka telecom circle, and was appointed as Telephone Inspector, after initial training at RTTC Hyderabad for six months period. At Hyderabad, I was exposed to new environment in science and its application to telephony.
1980-I was working from Sandur Telephones as in-charge officer, Sandur Telephones.
1982–cleared the departmental competitive examination and was selected to the post of Junior Engineer.
1983-I, underwent training for the Junior Engineer post, at RTTC Thiruvananthapuram, Kerala for 14 months period. It was like an University campus. Relay logic automatic call switching system called Strowger switching was taught as major subject here to our batch till the end of 1983.
1984-January and February, I was posted to Gulbarga Division, to get familiar with the exchange systems, in Gulbarga sub-division.
1984-I was posted to Raichur Telephones. One Mr. HuchReddy was SDO Phones who took my joining report. Mr. Hugarkar replaced him after one year. Mr. Raichurkar was DET Bellary division. Worked there for 12 years period. I had special experience in u/g cables, system.
1985-I was JE Indoor, as per the directions of Mr. Raichurkar DET.
1987-The STD facility was extended to district levels. A telephone subscriber could dial himself any number he needed to speak any where in India.[STD-Subscriber Trunk Dialing]. It was a major milestone in Indian telephony system.
1987-I opted to work in external plant. The lines and cables system.
1990-it was a period of Digital exchanges on computer controlled systems, enabled for fast expansion of networks. We started installing pillars to upgrade the external plant. Rapid expansions started all over India, there-after.
1994-conducted daughter’s marriage at native place.
1994-science reading became my hobby. Science fascinated me a lot. My journey in science started from here.
1996-returned to Bidar on mutual transfer and worked for Bidar telephones. Network expansion was my task, to provide on demand land-line telephone connections.
1999-I was promoted as S.D.E Telecom, and was working as commercial officer in Division office Bidar. I did this work for one year. Bidar was upgraded as TDM office. Pavan Kumar Negi, an young and dynamic officer was posted here to Bidar, Telecom district. The corrupts officers were transferred out of this division. All parts of the district saw digital exchanges installed during this period.
2000-I was asked to work as SDO Phones, Bidar city; as per the directions of Mr. Pavankumar.
2000-the DOT has been separated and the operating wing was called BSNL. BSNL became a corporation. Private operators were also working in the mobile telephony.
2002-GSM Mobile systems were installed by BSNL and mobile telephony was started. The working system started changing as a competition to provide services. Work load increased to officers considerably.
2006-I was working as SDE RSUs Bidar Urban area.
2007-There was hectic work and many officers were transferred and promoted. I was given additional charge of SDOT Bidar. The rural Telephony was not managed properly and I felt fish out of water and some how prolonged to manage it.
Exchange-failure was a common phenomena in rural telephony. One day five exchanges failed due to heavy rains and lightning discharge. It was beyond control to restore immediately due to lack of spare system-cards. I was charge-sheeted by TDM, saying that I was the person responsible for revenue loss. This made me humiliated and I decided to quit the services.
2008-I opted for voluntary retirement, and was relieved of my duty in February 2009.
2012-purchased five acres of land at native village Hochaknalli using the gratuity amount I received.
2014-started teaching mathematics and science at Rural high school Belkera on voluntary basis.
